Microscopy-based Saccharomyces cerevisiae complementation model reveals functional conservation and redundancy of N-terminal acetyltransferases
N-terminal acetylation is a highly abundant protein modification catalyzed by N-terminal acetyltransferases (NATs) NatA-NatG. The Saccharomyces cerevisiae protein Arl3 depends on interaction with Sys1 for its localization to the Golgi and this targeting strictly requires NatC-mediated N-terminal acetylation of Arl3. We utilized the Arl3 acetylation-dependent localization phenotype as a model sy...

N(alpha)-terminal acetylation is one of the most common protein modifications in eukaryotes. The COmbined FRActional DIagonal Chromatography (COFRADIC) proteomics technology that can be specifically used to isolate N-terminal peptides was used to determine the N-terminal acetylation status of 742 human and 379 yeast protein N termini, representing the largest eukaryotic dataset of N-terminal ac...
متن کاملPolymorphism of human acetyltransferases.
Acetylation by arylamine N-acetyltransferases (NATs) is a major route in the metabolism of numerous drugs and carcinogens. Recent studies suggest that the same enzymes also catalyze N,O-transacetylation and O-acetylation. A genetic polymorphism of clinical relevance divides the human population into slow and rapid acetylators of arylamines. Two human NATs, NAT1 and NAT2, have recently been char...
متن کاملRegulating histone acetyltransferases and deacetylases.
Histone acetyltransferases and histone deacetylases regulate the acetylation of histones and transcription factors, and in doing so have major roles in the control of cell fate. Many recent results have indicated that their function is strictly regulated in cells through the modulation of their levels, activity and availability for interaction with specific transcription factors. In this review...
متن کاملREDUNDANCY OF MULTISET TOPOLOGICAL SPACES
In this paper, we show the redundancies of multiset topological spaces. It is proved that $(P^star(U),sqsubseteq)$ and $(Ds(varphi(U)),subseteq)$ are isomorphic. It follows that multiset topological spaces are superfluous and unnecessary in the theoretical view point.
